MCA CONTINUES MASK MANDATE

WILL REASSESS MANDATE ON JUNE 30TH

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) is informing the community that the mask mandate has been extended to June 30th, 2022. The mask mandate, the MCA COVID-19 Immunization Policy, and the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) status will also be reassessed on June 30th. The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne has opted to continue the mask mandate in an effort to protect our community members and our vulnerable populations, most importantly our elders and immunocompromised populations. Masks continue to be an effective way to prevent and/or limit COVID-19 transmission.

Masks will remain mandatory in all indoor MCA settings, such as office spaces, healthcare settings, and MCA facilities. This extension is in alignment with the Ahkwesasne Mohawk Board of Education (AMBE) mask mandate extension. AMBE has chosen to extend their mask mandate to the end of the school year.

Masks must be worn properly to be fully effective. Masks must be worn over the mouth, nose, and chin when you are in the indoor area of any MCA facility or building.
