Mission Statement
The Department of Community and Social Services (DCSS) strives to assist and provide social services to the community of Akwesasne. In addition, DCSS works to meet the needs, increase health, safety and well-being through services and partnerships in and around Akwesasne.
Department Goals
- To make improvements in people’s lives.
- To increase the health and safety of the community.
- To ensure the services offered meet the community’s needs.
- To enhance and promote programming that incorporates the values of MCA-Respect, Integrity, Equality and Empowerment.
- To provide financial assistance for basic and related needs and to promote self-sufficiency through education and employment.
- To provide a licensed professional and culturally appropriate child care program within the three districts of Akwesasne.
- To provide a wholistic approach on adolescent health care and social well-being.
- To participate in the implementation and development of social & health prevention strategies for Elder Abuse.
