CANADA TO DROP COVID-19 TEST REQUIREMENT FOR BORDER CROSSING

Starting November 30, 2021, fully vaccinated Canadians and permanent residents who are visiting the United States (US) for less than 72 hours won’t need a COVID-19 PCR test in order to return home. Akwesasronon were exempt from the testing requirement, and this update applies to non-Akwesasronon.

Travelers were responsible for providing a negative PCR test result in order to return back to Canada, which could prove costly for those needing to take the test. The PCR test could range anywhere between $150-$300 per test. Any traveler crossing into the U.S. will be required to provide their proof of vaccination in order to cross the border.

Travelers who are out of the country of Canada for longer than 72 hours, however, will be required to provide a negative PCR test at the border when returning back to Canada.
