CDC CLASSIFIES CLINTON COUNTY AS RED LEVEL COUNTY FOR COVID-19 CASES

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) has been given notice that the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has designated Clinton County, a surrounding area of Akwesasne, as a “Red Level” county. A Red Level designation indicates that the area is at high risk of COVID-19 transmission, which means more than 100 new cases per 100,000 people over the last seven (7) days.

Plattsburgh, N.Y., a highly visited area for Akwesasronon, is located within Clinton County. For those Akwesasronon who are going school clothes shopping, or going to the Plattsburgh area for any recreational activities, please take extra precautions when traveling. Ensure you have good quality masks, maintain social distance, and wash/sanitize hands frequently. If you are immunocompromised, unvaccinated, or travelling with younger community members ineligible to receive the vaccine (under the age of 12), please be mindful of your surroundings, and avoid going into crowded stores, if possible. If you have yet to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, please consider receiving your vaccination.
