As part of the Bridge Corridor Improvements, the Kawehnó:ke Tennis Courts will undergo revitalization to its site to improve the area and provide a safe environment with better amenity spaces for the community.

The project consists of a new entrance access with parking spaces from Recreation Road, a new 12’ high fence around the court area, and new asphalt playing surface.

For community safety, the Tennis Court area will be closed starting Tuesday, October 12, 2018 as construction is scheduled to start thereafter, and will remain closed for the remainder of the corridor work until completion.

The old brick lacrosse wall has to be removed because it is deemed unsafe; however, FBCL has found funding for a new wall that will be put up in its place. MCA has contacted the artist who painted the old wall and the artist has agreed to repaint the wall under the direction of the Kawehnó:ke Recreation Committee.

In addition, planning is underway by MCA for the purchase of new basketball nets and other equipment for the new court area.

FBCL thanks you in advance for your patience while construction continues within the corridor and respectfully requests that community members keep in mind the need for construction area safety.  Nia:wen.
