DOH ANNOUNCES COMMUNITY COVID-19 VACCINE CLINIC

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) is announcing that the first community COVID-19 vaccine clinic has been scheduled.

The clinic will be held on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Kana:takon Recreation Centre, by appointment only.

Community Health will be contacting those who have pre-registered for their appointment times. There will be no walk-in vaccines administered. Additional community vaccine clinics will be announced as supply becomes available.

Vaccines at this clinic will be administered to Elders, in accordance with Tier 2 of the DOH Vaccine Priority Framework.

Recipients of the vaccine will be required to fill out paperwork prior to receiving the vaccine. You will be asked to adhere to community health guidelines while on premises: wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing of at least 6-feet, and sanitizing your hands. Please ensure you have your ID (status card, health card, license, etc.) when arriving for your appointment. Vaccine recipients will be required to wait 15-30 additional minutes, to ensure there are no reactions to the vaccine.

Please arrive for your scheduled time. If you arrive early, you will be asked to remain in your vehicle until your scheduled time. If you are 15 minutes or more late, you will need to reschedule your appointment. Elders who have pre-registered for the vaccine clinic will be contacted to confirm their appointment.

Should an elder require assistance, only one additional person will be allowed entry into the vaccine clinic.

If you are an elder, or a member of the community in the Jurisdiction of MCA, you can pre-register for the vaccine at 613-575-2341 ext. 3219 or 3247.
