DOH EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER RISE IN COVID-RELATED PASSINGS; ENCOURAGES VACCINES

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) is expressing new concerns regarding the rise of COVID-related passings in the community. Since September, the MCA jurisdiction has experienced losses of life due to complications from COVID-19. The DOH sends our deepest condolences to those families who have recently lost a loved one.

The DOH strongly encourages any community members who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to contact the Community Health Program to register for the next vaccine clinic. The vaccines have been approved by Health Canada for ages 12 and up, and deemed safe for those who qualify for the vaccine. For anyone experiencing vaccine hesitancy, please contact the Community Health Program and speak to our qualified health professionals to discuss your concerns.

To register for the next available COVID-19 vaccine clinic, or to speak to a health professional, contact the Community Health Program at 613-575-2341 ext. 3220.
