DOH INFORMS COMMUNITY OF RED CROSS PRESENCE AT IAKHIHSOHTHA LODGE

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Health (DOH) is notifying the community of our working partnership with the Canadian Red Cross at the Iakhihsohtha Lodge. The Canadian Red Cross is present to assist Iakhihsohtha Lodge staff with the quick and efficient end to their outbreak status.

The Canadian Red Cross had assisted Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long-term Care (LTC) staff, and were instrumental in ending their outbreak status efficiently and without issue. The Canadian Red Cross provided LTC staff and residents socialization & engagement, nutrition support, organization & light cleaning, safety & well-being and assisting with reporting and documentation. The Canadian Red Cross is present at Iakhihsohtha Lodge to offer this same assistance and service.

The Canadian Red Cross, a humanitarian-based organization, whose mission is “to help people and communities in Canada and around the world in times of need, and support them in strengthening their resilience,” has done a fantastic job in assisting our LTC’s in alleviating any undue stress, assisting during staff shortages, and being a resource for LTC staff and administration during a most tumultuous time.

DOH and the LTC staff would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the Canadian Red Cross for all their assistance in helping to end the outbreak status at our LTC facilities, ensuring the health and safety of our Totas.
