Voter Registration Day

The Chief Electoral Officer is encouraging all eligible community members to take an active role in shaping our collective future. A Voter Registration Day will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Angus Mitchell Memorial Building in Kana:takon. This event offers individuals the opportunity to register, update their voter information, or confirm their place on the Voters List. Make your voice count!

This event is especially helpful for anyone who:
• Has recently turned 18
• Has moved districts
• Has never registered before
• Wants to ensure their information is current

Getting registered now ensures you’re ready for all upcoming elections, including the Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education election this fall and the General Election in June 2027.

If you can’t attend on May 10, voter registration is also available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Kana:takon. Community members can also call to make an appointment to discuss your registration options. Arrangements can be made to assist you where you are — we’re committed to making voter registration accessible for everyone.

To register, you’ll need valid government-issued photo ID and proof of residency (such as a utility bill). Individuals will also be asked to complete two forms under the Akwesasne Election Law:
1. Schedule “G” – Application to Voters List
2. Schedule “H” – Declaration of Eligibility
