MCA NON-ESSENTIAL SERVICES CLOSED

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is announcing that due to rises cases of COVID-19 throughout the community, all non-essential services will be closed to the public, effective immediately and until further notice. The situation will be re-assessed later in the week.

The Akwesasne community has practiced caution and safety measures with extreme diligence for many months. We encourage all community members to continue exercising social distancing, refrain from unnecessary travel or social gatherings, wear masks at all times when in public or when six feet of distance cannot be maintained from anyone outside your “bubble” or household, and sanitize hands and highly-touched areas frequently.

Our adherence to these safety precautions will minimize the COVID-19 risk to our community. We are all in this together, let’s keep each other safe.

MCA non-essential staff will be on work-from-home status until further notice. Essential services such as policing, ambulance and certain health services will remain open to the community. Please call 613-575-2250 to confirm if a certain service is available.
