MCA REPORTS TEN NEW POSITIVE PCR/RAPID CASES OF COVID-19

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Community Health Program reports ten (10) positive cases of COVID-19 in the northern portion of the community from May 16 – May 23, 2022.

 

Current COVID-19 Statistics for the Northern Portion of Akwesasne:  
 Current Positive Cases: 10
Total COVID-Related Passings: 12 

 

 

SYMPTOMATIC INDIVIDUALS

If an individual is symptomatic, it is recommended that:

  • Individuals have either two negative rapid antigen tests (RAT) taken 24-48 hours apart OR a negative PCR test result.
  • Symptomatic individuals should remain isolated until their symptoms have resolved for at least 24 hours for respiratory symptoms and 48 hours for gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea). 
  • COVID-19 positive individuals should continue to follow public health guidance on isolation times, as they vary based on age and COVID-vaccination status. 

 

VACCINE APPOINTMENTS 

The Community Health Program is booking appointments for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd doses. To make an appointment, please contact the Community Health Program at 613-575-2341 ext. 3220. 

 

COVID-19 TESTING 

The MCA Community Health Program conducts COVID-19 testing (PCR) on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m by appointment only and offers free at-home rapid antigen test kits. Contact CHP at 613-575-2341 ext. 3220. Community members can also access testing through the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe on Mondays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. noon. Check their website, www.srmt-nsn.gov, for additional information.  Test results can take between 7-10 days to return. 

 

POSITIVE RAPID TEST RESULTS 

If you’ve received a positive rapid test result, please contact the Community Health Program to report your positive rapid test result. Please note return calls can vary from two (2) to six (6) hours. Patience is greatly appreciated. Please note, a positive rapid antigen test is considered a positive case of COVID-19. Begin your isolation/quarantine period immediately.

 

QUARANTINE ASSISTANCE 

If you’ve been directed to quarantine, and are in need of essential supplies, please contact 613-936-1548 ext. 1300 during regular business hours (M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), or 613-577-6556 after hours or on weekends. If staff are unavailable at either phone number, please leave a message, and staff will return your call as soon as they are able.
