Local Girl to Raise Money for CHEO
Reprinted with permission from Indian Time
Nina Rourke (Kahsenesaks) is an outpatient of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and she wants to raise some money for them. At her last visit to the hospital she told the staff that she wanted to make some money to help them and she would do that by selling food. When asked what kind of food, Nina replied “Jello in a cup with whipped cream, cookies and pies”. It was such a sweet gesture from a 7-year old girl.
Nina did not let the idea go away and three days later she had already made 7 handmade signs that said she was “raising money for CHEO”. Kahsenesaks is a student at the Freedom School and is just learning her writing skills but it was clear what her sign meant. She has already called her numerous family members and asked them to help to raise money for CHEO. It is surprising how many family members had actually been to CHEO for treatment and they were more than willing to help in any way they could. Her great aunt Mary Lou Phillips, even put a donation jar at her desk at Admin 2 to help Nina’s cause.
Nina will be at the Kawehnoke Craft Fair on December 2nd only and then at the St Regis Recreation Craft Fair on the 9th of December. Please come out and help a young girl to learn how to help someone else.
