Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Approves Canada Day Fireworks and Lift-Off 2009
Ohiari:ha / June 23, 2009Akwesasne-Mohawk Council of Akwesasne assured the City of Cornwall today that the annual Canada Day Fireworks Display will continue as scheduled from the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena on Kawehnoke. Despite the bridge closure, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne approves the crossing of the pyrotechnic team onto the Mohawk Territory and looks forward to the annual light show.
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne also supports the Kinsmen Cornwall
Lift-Off 2009 scheduled for July 9th through 12th, 2009. The annual
Cornwall event features hot air balloons which often drift over the Mohawk Territory and land there. Mohawk Council of Akwesasne supports the festival and will advise community members in advance of the event.
Mohawk Council of Akwesasne wishes the organizing committees for the
success of the Canada Day Fireworks and the Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off Hot Air Balloon Festival and wishes well to all those who will be
participating.
