NOTICE OF BY-ELECTION FOR THE DISTRICT OF KAWEHNOKE

Akwesasne — As Ordered by the Akwesasne Mohawk Court, a By-Election for all District Chief positions for the District of Kawehnoke shall be held on November 7, 2009. Advance polls shall be conducted on October 24th, 2009 by appointment.
Only those candidates whose names appear on the June 27th ballot will be allowed to run.
In accordance with the decision of the Akwesasne Mohawk Court all decisions and /or resolutions made by the present sitting Council stand; and
In the community’s best interest, the Kawehnoke District Chiefs shall remain in office until the newly elected District Chiefs for Kawehnoke have been sworn into office following the By-Election.
