Notice of Election

The Chief Administrative Officer for the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is providing public notice to the eligible voters of the Mohawks of Akwesasne that a General Election will be held to elect a Grand Chief and twelve (12) District Chiefs on Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 9am to 5pm at the following locations:
St. Regis Recreation Center—Kanatakon (St. Regis)
Snye Recreation Center—Tsi Snaihne (Snye)
Kawehnoke Recreation Center—Kawehnoke (Cornwall Island)
Individuals elected to positions on Mohawk Council will be for three-year terms commencing in July 2009 and ending in July 2012. Information on nominations, advance polls, and voting procedures will be provided in advance of the election.
The General Election will be conducted in accordance with the Akwesasne Election Law.
