January 8, 2018 | Cardio Crazy Classes Begins | Turtle Room in Arena | 4PM

Cardio Crazy is a class designed to get your heart pumping, increase metabolism, and
burn calories. All fitness levels welcome. Bring your indoor sneakers and water.
This free class runs from January 8, 2018 until March 14, 2018 every Monday and
Wednesday from 4PM-5PM at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena Turtle Room.

MCA Community Health Program is offering 4 classes for all community members for
free! 10 week session running from January 8, 2018 through March 15, 2018. All fitness
levels are welcome.

Grow stronger together! A group fitness class for you and your baby. Series running from
January 10 – February 28 every Wednesday from 10AM-11AM at the Snye Recreation
Centre. Please bring water and indoor sneakers. Ideally this class is for babies 4-12

January 10, 2018 | Elders Indoor Walking Club Begins | Tsi Snaihne Rec | 8AM

Please join us for indoor walking club. Come out to walk and visit and enjoy a free cup of
coffee or tea and healthy snack. Elders indoor walking club will be at the Tsi Snaihne
Recreation Centre every Wednesday from 8AM-10AM starting January 10, 2018 until

January 11, 2018 | Getting Fitter with Age Classes Begin | Sweet Grass Manor | 10AM

Join the Getting Fitter with Age class to learn how to use simple movements and low-tech
equipment to increase your fitness. We will work on Falls prevention (balance, stretching,
and low impact aerobics). This is a 10-week program from January 11 through March 15,

January 15, 2018 | Taking Care of Me Classes Begin | Tri-District Elders Ctr | 12PM

Eat healthier, Move More, Feel Great! This is a 6-week program for community members
who are looking to make lasting changes to their health. We combine fun and learning
with hands-on food-based activities, group physical activity, goal-setting and reflection.
These 6 sessions will run every Monday from 12-1:30PM from January 15, through
February 19, 2018 at the Tri-District Elders Center on Kawehno:ke. Please bring indoor

MCA Wholisitic Health and Wellness is hosting the Akwesasne Winter Games Boys Night
Out for male youth ages 12-18 years old on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 5-8PM
at the St. Regis Recreation Centre. This event is to connect young male youth with
positive male role models within Akwesasne This is a free event. Free dinner and
refreshments will be provided. Please dress for the weather as the majority of this event
will occur outdoors. Parental supervision and participation is encouraged. This is a drug

January 17, 2018 | Deadline to apply for Health Care Support Program | Iohahi:io | 4PM

Have you always dreamed about a career in Health Care? Are you interested in learning
about the human body and how it works? Would you like to learn a little about Psychology
and Sociology? Do you enjoy helping others? If you answered “yes” to any of these
questions, Iohahi:io wants you to participate in its 15-week Health Care Support Worker
Program offered in partnership with the Akwesasne Community Support Program. Course
runs from Monday, February 5, 2018 through Friday, May 18, 2018. Classes will be held
Monday-Thursday. Transportation may be provided. To apply, please provide a photo i.d.
(status card) along with completed Iohahi:io application (applications are available at
Iohahi:io). Deadline to apply is Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 4PM. For more

January 18, 2018 | Diabetes Conversations Begins | CIA #3 | 3PM

Have you heard about Conversation Maps. Join us to learn more! It’s fun and interactive!
We will have two sessions of dynamic discussion using conversation maps about living
well with diabetes in a small group format. Snacks will be provided.
The two sessions will be held on Thursday, January 18, and Thursday, January 25, 2018
from 3PM-4:30PM at the CIA #3 Conference Room.
Space is limited. There is a maximum of 8 seats. Interested persons must be willing to

January 18, 2018 | Painting the “Complete Picture” with Loss begins | Seven Dancers | 4PM

Akwesasne Child and Family Services and Seven Dancers Coalition present painting
“The Complete Picture” with losses. The goal of this painting workshop is to help
participants understand grief recovery and to assist in restoring balance in relationships
within family, community, nation and to natural world. This workshop is open to adults
and youth and will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 and Thursday, January 25, 2018
from 4-7PM at the Seven Dancers Coalition building. Snacks will be provided and is

January 20, 2018 | Babysitting Certification Course | Kana:takon Rec | 8:30AM

This free course is geared towards youth 11-14 and they will learn how to provide child
care safety, first aid, healthy snacks, and fun interactive children’s games. This free
babysitting certification course will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 9AM-4PM
at the St. Regis Recreation Center. Please arrive by 8:30AM as the course will promptly
begin at 9AM sharp. Light breakfast and lunch will be provided. This course is open to 20

The Traditional Medicine staff are informing the community that they will be attending
Satehkosesne (Midwinter Ceremony) from January 20-27, 2018. Therefore, the
Traditional Medicine office will be closed.

Outdoor family fun and healthy meal prep for families on the GO classes will be held every
Tuesday and Thursday beginning Tuesday, January 30, 2018 until Thursday, March 8,
2018 from 4:30PM-6PM at the Snye Recreation Center.
Please dress for outdoor activities and one family member must be between the ages of
12 and 25 years old.
