Due to Hydro Québec’s planned interruption of power in the Quebec Districts of Akwesasne from Friday, November 25, 2016 at 10 p.m. untilSaturday, November 26, 2016 at 7 a.m., the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne will have warming stations available at the Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education (AMBE) schools in the Districts of Kana:takon (St. Regis) and Tsi Snaihne should residents require access due to power outage, pipe breaks or heating problems.

Hydro Québec informed MCA that this interruption of electricity service, which will affect customers in Akwesasne, Dundee, Godmanchester, Huntingdon and Saint-Anicet, is required to take place in order to carry out urgent and unforeseen work on the Huntington substation. The work being done will ensure that the power system remains safe and reliable during the upcoming winter season.

Please check on your neighbors during this outage, especially the elderly.

Should you or your family have an emergency during this outage please contact the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service at 613-575-2000.
