COMMUNITY CONSULTATION SESSIONS ON THE AKWESASNE CHILD RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES LAW: ENIETHIHSWANÓN:NA

In accordance with Phase III: Community Consultation of the Akwesasne Legislative Enactment Procedural Regulation (ALEPR), Sections 6.1 and 6.2, the Child Rights and Responsibilities Law, Eniethihswanón:na, Working Task Group (WTG) is pleased to announce the upcoming initial Community Consultation Sessions to be held in each District. Community members are encouraged to attend and share their views on the history, development, and implementation of this law.

 

Initial Community Consultation Session Schedule:

  • April 27 – District of Tsi Snáihne
    Tsi Snáihne Recreation Center @ 5:30 p.m.
  • May 21 – District of Kaná:takon
    Kaná:takon Recreation Center @ 5:30 p.m.
  • TBD – District of Kawehnó:ke

 

The WTG is planning an extended period of community consultation through local events, schools, Senior Centers, and other community venues to ensure that input is gathered from all demographics within Akwesasne. As these outreach activities will occur on an ongoing basis, a deadline for community members to submit comments will be established once the date of the final consultation session has been confirmed. The WTG will provide public notice regarding the details of the final meeting, and the deadline for submitting comments will be announced at least four weeks in advance.
