KANONHKWA’TSHERI:IO HEALTH FACILITY  RELOCATION OF SERVICES: JANUARY 12–16, 2026

Due to an ongoing power outage affecting the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility in Kana:takon (St. Regis), the building will be closed beginning Monday, January 12 and potentially through Friday, January 16, 2026. The re-opening is dependent on completion of repairs.

To ensure services continue with minimal disruption, temporary service arrangements have been made as outlined below.

CLINICS / DIABETES SERVICES

Clinic locations are being temporarily adjusted. Clients will be contacted directly with appointment updates.

  • Dr. Horn
    • Monday: Appointments will be held virtually
    • Tuesday: Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long-Term Care (Kawehno:ke), as scheduled
    • Wednesday: To be determined (clients will be notified)
  • Dr. Robinson
    • Wednesday appointments will be rescheduled to Thursday at the Snye Clinic
  • Nurse Practitioner Rebecca Boyer
    • Working remotely; appointments will be held virtually

Patient Navigation, Foot Care, Diabetes Management, and Nutrition services will also be relocated during this period. Clients will be contacted with details.

Home Care services will continue as usual.

Non-Insured Health Benefits & Medical Transportation will work remotely and remain available at 613-662-4376 or nihb@akwesasne.ca.

MENTAL HEALTH & WELLNESS SERVICES

All Mental Health & Wellness programs (Addictions, Mental Health, Traditional Medicine, and Land-Based Healing) can be reached at (613) 932-5050.

  • Mental Health providers will conduct in-person and virtual appointments from the satellite office in Cornwall.
  • Traditional Medicine providers will offer virtual appointments.
  • Land-Based Healing will closely monitor landbasedhealing@akwesasne.ca.
  • The Mental Health & Wellness leadership team will coordinate operations from Sahatiha’hará:ne Detox Center.
  • Sahatiha’hará:ne Detox Center will continue operating as usual.

OTHER SERVICE UPDATES

  • Department of Community and Social Services (DCSS) Administration will operate from 55 Water Street, Cornwall. 
    The best way to reach DCSS during this time is by email at: jaime.beechey@akwesasne.ca 
  • Special Needs Services will work remotely and can be contacted via email: alicia.hill@akwesasne.ca or Mindy.thompson@akwesasne.ca
  • Ambulance Services will temporarily operate from the SRMT Substation.
  • Proxim Pharmacy will continue essential services (curbside prescription pickups and deliveries). The public should not enter the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility.
  • Dr. Dubec (Optometrist) – appointments will be cancelled during the outage.
  • Community Support Program – Services will remain operational while staff work remotely. The best way to reach staff is via email at:  csp@akwesasne.ca
  • Akwesasne Child & Family Services – All staff can be reached at 613-551-2782. For ACFS after-hours or emergency matters, please call 613-575-5020.

Clients will be contacted directly regarding appointment changes. Community members are also encouraged to check the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Facebook page for ongoing updates throughout the week.

The Department of Infrastructure, Housing and Environment (DIHE), along with Information Services, is actively working to resolve the issue. If additional closure days are required, the community will be notified as soon as possible.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while repairs are completed. Further updates will be shared as information becomes available.
