OFFICIAL RESULTS AKWESASNE MEMBERSHIP BOARD  KANA:TAKON BY-ELECTION NOMINATIONS

The Chief Electoral Officer is providing the community with the official results of the nominations held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, for the Akwesasne Membership Board for the two (2) open seats in the district of Kana:takon.   

  

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Cheryl Jacobs has released the following ‘OFFICIAL’ results for candidates for the District of Kana:takon.   

 

The number of candidates that returned their nomination packages to serve for the two open Kana:takon seats did not exceed the number of open positions therefore there will be no need for a By-Election to take place on March 28, 2026. 

 

The C.E.O. hereby declares:  Laura Francis and Crystal Oakes the eligible candidates acclaimed to the Akwesasne Membership Board Kana:takon seats, subject to any appeals. Anyone wishing to appeal may do so no later than March 6, 2026 by 4:00 pm with the Akwesasne Appeal Tribunal.  Any appeals may be filed at the Akwesasne Justice Department located at 45 Johnson Road, Kana:takon/St. Regis, Quebec.
