AMPS UPDATE: ONGOING SEARCH EFFORTS IN TSI SNAIHNE

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) continues its operations in Tsi Snaihne (Snye) following last night’s reported incident.

As of this morning, no persons have been officially reported missing. However, there remains concern that an individual may still be in the water.

Search efforts remain active. Community members can expect to see aircraft in the area throughout the day, along with continued ground and water-based search operations.

Last evening’s response included AMPS and the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department (HAVFD), with aerial support provided by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and a K9 search conducted by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). Today, water-based search efforts continue with AMPS and HAVFD, with RCMP air support assisting.

The public is asked to exercise caution in the area and report any relevant information to AMPS by contacting Central Dispatch at 613-575-2000 or by emailing tips@akwesasne.ca.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
