AKWESASNE MEMBERSHIP BOARD ELECTION: NOMINATION PROCESS

The Akwesasne Membership Board has called for an Election to be held in the three districts of Kawehno:ke, Kana:takon and Tsi Snaihne. Each district currently has one representative seat available for a 2-year term, with three positions open in total.

Nominations will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the following locations: 

Nomination Process:

No person may nominate or second for more candidates than he/she is entitled to vote for.

Candidates wishing to accept their nomination must complete the Nomination Package and return to the CEO no later than Friday, October 17, 2025, by 12:00 p.m. (noon). Completed packages must be returned to the CEO, located at the Angus Mitchell Memorial Building (12 Akwesasne Street, Akwesasne, QC).

Should only one candidate be nominated per District, the successful nominee who has completed & submitted their Nomination Package will be ‘unofficially’ declared acclaimed to the position, pending no appeals are received.

If two or more candidates accept their nomination in a district, the process of the election will continue. Advanced poll dates are set for Wednesday, October 29 and Thursday, October 30. Please contact the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to make an appointment to vote in the advance polls.

The Akwesasne Membership Board Election is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Should an election be necessary, voting locations will be announced once determined.
