CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: AKWESASNE MEMBERSHIP BOARD ELECTION

District of Kana:takon: 1 seat for a 2-year term
District of Tsi Snaihne: 1 seat for a 2-year term
District of Kawehno:ke: 1 seat for a 2-year term

Nominations take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the following locations:

Kana:takon: Kana:takon School
Tsi Snaihne: Tsi Snaihne School
Kawehno:ke: Ahkwesahsne Mohawk School (AMS)

To be eligible, candidates must:

• Be at least 25 years of age on the nomination date.
• Be a Member of Akwesasne.
• Be Onkwehonwe, with at least one natural parent who is a Member of Akwesasne.
• Have resided in the Territory of Akwesasne for at least 10 consecutive years prior to nomination.
• Reside in the District they are running for at least 1 year immediately prior to nomination.
• Not have been dismissed from the Membership Board in the last 4 years.
• Provide consent and a criminal record check at least 15 days prior to the election.
• Not have been convicted of an indictable offence in Canada or a felony in the United States within the last 10 years.

If an election is needed in any of the three districts, it will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Locations will be announced.

Please review the Voters List to ensure your name is provided. The deadline to be added is Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. (noon). The Voters List can be viewed at the following locations:

• Kana:takon: Canada Post Office, Village Currency
• Kawehno:ke: Bank of Montreal (BMO), Jock’s Kwik Stop
• Tsi Snaihne: Iohahi:io Akwesasne Education & Training Institute, Snye Life Convenience
