CELEBRATING STRENGTH & SOBRIETY: HARVEY HERNE
“She:kon/Hello,
Wathatkahateni ionkiats (‘He Turned Around’ is my name). That is the name that I received after I got out of rehab. My government name is Harvey. I am a recovering alcoholic and addict. I was beaten by my insanity, guilt, shame, etc.
I was suicidal, homicidal, hopeless. Out of spite, I went to the Partridge House, a place I swore I’d never go. I fought everything until I was so damn tired of fighting. I began to listen, started to believe things could change if I let them. I started to get honest with myself, to be open minded and willing to do the work on myself.
I have fulfilled so many tasks in my recovery journey. I will be forever grateful just for today. Life is awesome, even with the ups and downs.”
Nia:wen/Thank you, Harvey, for being a community leader and example, and for choosing a life of sobriety. Your journey lights the way for others!
🎉 LET’S CELEBRATE RESILIENCE, HOPE, AND HEALING TOGETHER! Stay tuned for more inspiring stories throughout the week.
