CELEBRATING STRENGTH & SOBRIETY: MITCHELL SKIDDERS

"She:kon! My name is Mitchell and I am a person who chose sobriety. Overcoming addiction is not about perfection, but about courage. Every person on this journey has faced moments of darkness, and yet, here we are, choosing light again and again.

My addiction led me to many mistakes and losses. I overcame the guilt, shame, and hurt to turn those losses into lessons. Recovery is not a straight line. It’s a series of decisions to stand back up, even when the world feels heavy.

Addiction thrives in silence, shame, and isolation. Healing grows in culture, connection, honesty, and hope. No one overcomes addiction alone, we heal through community, through the people who refuse to give up on us, and through the strength we sometimes forget we have. With unity comes community. My mother and brothers believed in me, and my community helped me stand back up. Now, I am really honored to be helping my fellow community members stand back up.

Every small step matters. Every day sober is a victory. And every person in recovery deserves to be seen, not for their struggles, but for their resilience. Let today be a reminder that change is possible, healing is real, and your story is not over.
