STAY WELL THIS SEASON: RESPIRATORY ILLNESS AWARENESS

Respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, influenza (flu), and RSV tend to circulate most heavily between November and April. These illnesses can lead to serious health complications and even hospitalizations — especially for young children, older adults, and those who are immunocompromised.

These viruses affect the lungs and throat, and they spread easily through coughs, sneezes, or close contact with an infected person. 🤧

Symptoms of COVID-19, flu, and RSV can be very similar, it may be difficult to tell them apart. Common symptoms may include:
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Runny nose or nasal congestion
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle aches or joint pain
  • Stomach issues (vomiting or diarrhea)

Symptoms can range from mild to severe. If you’re feeling unwell, stay home and consider reaching out to your healthcare provider if necessary. 🏠

To protect yourself and others this respiratory illness season, use multiple layers of protection. Staying up to date with recommended vaccinations, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette are some of the most effective ways to keep you and your community safe and healthy.
