COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES WELCOMES NEW HEALTH PROMOTION & PREVENTION SUPERVISOR

The MCA Department of Health’s (DOH) Community Health Services (CHS) would like to extend a warm welcome to its new Health Promotion & Prevention (HPP) Supervisor, Tyren Boots. Tyren brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role.

Tyren was born and raised in Akwesasne and graduated from Marian University of Wisconsin with a dual Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology. After graduating, Tyren started work with Spirit North, a non-profit organization focused on bringing land-based learning to Indigenous youth in Okanagan Valley, BC.

Tyren returned to Akwesasne and worked in collaboration with the Iakwa’shatste Youth Fitness organization for two years. During this time, he also held the role of Assistant Coach to the Women’s Hockey Program at SUNY Potsdam. This last year, Tyren started his own business, TB Performance & Development, to grow the game of hockey in Akwesasne and create more opportunities for youth to succeed at the next level through hosting Ice Warriors Hockey Camps. Alongside his passion for the sport of hockey, he also enjoys golfing.

Please join us in welcoming Tyren to the Department of Health and his new role within Health Promotion & Prevention!
