CULTURAL EXCHANGE & WISP 2026: YOUTH INFORMATION SESSIONS AND APPLICATION ASSISTANCE

Akwesasronon youth ages 15–24 are invited to attend one of the upcoming information sessions and application assistance events for the Cultural Exchange & World Indigenous Suicide Prevention (WISP) Conference:

📍 Thursday, October 30 — Ska’nikon:ra Building

65 Tewesateni Road, Kawehno:ke | 5 PM – 7 PM

These sessions will provide an overview of the trip, help youth complete their applications, and answer any questions about this incredible opportunity.

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne are partnering to offer this unique experience through Ratinenhri:ne’s — “They Lead the Group.” The initiative will bring together Indigenous youth for a Cultural Exchange and the World Indigenous Suicide Prevention (WISP) Conference, taking place September 14–23, 2026, in Kirikiriroa (Hamilton), New Zealand.

Participants will attend the World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference (September 17–19, 2026) and take part in cultural exchanges designed to promote leadership, connection, and holistic wellness. Akwesasne’s youth delegation will represent the community as young ambassadors, sharing culture, stories, and strategies for wellness and prevention.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a registered member of Akwesasne
  • Must be between 15–24 years old at the time of travel
  • Must submit a video application or essay
