DIHE EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY, FRIENDS OF RICHARD SKIDDERS

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Infrastructure, Housing & Environment extends our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Richard Skidders, whose passing is felt profoundly within our department and throughout the community.

Richard was a deeply community-minded individual whose thoughtful intelligence, calm presence, and steady leadership strengthened every service entrusted to his care. We were fortunate to have him with us during his early years of service within the former Department of Technical Services (DTS), where he worked until his retirement in May 2007. We were equally grateful when he returned in May 2021 — by then within the newly formed Department of Infrastructure, Housing & Environment (DIHE) — to support us as Roads Manager during a critical period of staffing shortages. His willingness to return and offer his experience once again spoke volumes about his character and his unwavering commitment to the community he loved.

We will remember Richard not only for his professional contributions, but also for the kindness, humility, and gentle laughter that brightened our days. His legacy of service and compassion will continue to guide and inspire us, and he will be truly missed.

On behalf of all DIHE employees, we share our heartfelt gratitude for Richard’s many years of dedication and the positive impact he made within both DTS and DIHE. Nia:wen, Richard, for everything you offered through your work, your spirit, and your example. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
