PUBLIC NOTICE: SPEED INDICATOR SIGN INSTALLED ON KAWEHNO:KE

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Infrastructure, Housing & Environment – Roads Sector advises the community that a speed indicator sign has been installed on Island Road at Square’s Corner in the district of Kawehno:ke. This device is designed to alert drivers to the posted 40 km/h advisory speed through the curve. 

The installation comes in response to community concerns regarding vehicles leaving the roadway in this area due to excessive speed. This measure aims to increase driver awareness and reduce the risk of incidents along the curve. 

Please note that the speed indicator sign is not a photo radar device and does not issue infractions. Its purpose is to provide real-time feedback to motorists and encourage safer driving.
