MCA Green Food Bag Program

 

Supporting healthy living in Akwesasne, one bag at a time.

The MCA Department of Health’s Community Health Services is proud to offer the Tetewatska:hon — Green Food Bag Program, providing fresh produce and essentials to Akwesasró:non at an affordable price.

 


 

How It Works

Cost: $20 CAD per Green Food Bag (limit of 2 bags per person).
Payment: Due at the time of order. Accepted methods below.

  • Cash: Submit payments to the Community Health Services office at the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility; or
  • E-Transfer: Send payments to etransfer@akwesasne.ca.
    • Include the following in the message section:
      • “Green Food Bag”
      • The month you are ordering for
      • Your name and contact number
      • Your pick-up location

Limited Quantities: Quantities are limited each month, so don’t wait to place your order! If the limit is reached, your order will roll over to the next month’s list. See the schedule below.

 


 

What's in the Green Food Bag?

Each month, the Green Food Bag features a variety of fresh, seasonal produce and other items. Past bags have included:
🧅  Onions
🍎  Apples
🥔  Potatoes
🥕  Carrots
🥒  Cucumbers
🍌  Bananas
🥬  Lettuce
🍴  Cereal and more!

 


 

Pickup Information

Community members can pick up their Green Food Bags at any of the following locations:

  • Kana:takon Recreation Center
  • Akwesasne Homemakers
  • A’nowara’ko:wa Arena or Kawehno:ke Recreation Center (schedule may vary).

Distribution is held from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Important: When ordering, you must specify your pick-up location. If none is indicated, it will default to Kana:takon.

Bring Your Own Bags: Please bring reusable bags when picking up your order, as bags will not be provided.
