MCA OFFICES CLOSED FOR NATIONAL DAY OF TRUTH & RECONCILIATION

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne will be closed on Tuesday, Seskehkó:wa/September 30 in observance of the National Day of Truth & Reconciliation, which coincides with Orange Shirt Day.

Essential services and 24-hour care facilities will remain operational. Regular office hours will resume on Wednesday, October 1.

While our offices will be closed, MCA staff will be out in the community for Akwesasne’s Orange Shirt Day gathering at Generations Park. Join us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free, community-wide event open to everyone. The day offers opportunities for healing, reflection, and cultural pride, including a special recognition during the opening ceremony honoring Akwesasne’s residential school survivors. Rain or shine, we will come together to acknowledge their courage, resilience, and strength, while supporting one another in remembrance and healing.
