CANCER SUPPORT TALKING CIRCLE
The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne's Mental Health & Wellness team is proud to introduce a new community initiative: Cancer Support Talking Circle.
This talking circle is a safe and welcoming space for anyone impacted by cancer. The group is open to all; men, women, caregivers, family members, individuals with a diagnosis, and those currently going through active treatment. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where community members can share, listen, and connect with others who understand the journey.
At this time, MCA Mental Health & Wellness is beginning with one all-inclusive group so we can get the project up and running and bring people together. We recognize that there may be a need in the future to offer separate spaces for specific groups (for example: men, women, caregivers, etc.), and we will reassess and evaluate this need in June based on community feedback and participation.
Meetings will be held every other Wednesday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and will rotate between the three districts to make the circle accessible to more community members.
Upcoming Dates & Locations:
- March 11 — Snye Homemakers
- March 25 — Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility
