UNOFFICIAL RESULTS OF AKWESASNE ELECTION LAW REFERENDUM AEL #2024-01, MCR 2024/2025 #101 SEC. 16.2 (a)

The Chief Referendum Officer (CRO) hereby notifies the community of the “unofficial” results of the Akwesasne Election Law Number 2024-01, MCR 2024/2025 -#101 Sec. 16.2 (a) referendum held on Saturday, January 31, 2026. 

The ‘unofficial’ results are as follows:

(in favor of proposed amendment)

(opposed to the proposed amendment)

  • “No” votes opposed to the proposed amendments: 89 votes

Therefore, the Akwesasne Election Law Section 16.2 (a) is hereby declared to have passed. 

The CRO would like to thank the Deputy Referendum Officers and Uniform Security Personnel Officers who performed their duties diligently today. 

Please note that the deadline to file an appeal is Friday, February 6, 2026 no later than 5:00 p.m. Appeals must be filed with the Akwesasne Mohawk Court, located at CIA Building #3 on Kawehno:ke.
