WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is advising the community that a winter weather advisory has been issued for this afternoon, Friday, February 20,  between 2-3 p.m. through tonight into Saturday morning. Snowfall amounts of up to 10 cm is expected, with reduced visibility in heavy snow and wind speeds up to 15 mph.
Community members are encouraged to exercise caution while traveling today and into Saturday morning. Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Allow extra time for travel, turn on your headlights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance if driving.
The Emergency Measures Program is actively monitoring conditions for potential power outages in our area.
If you require access to a warming station due to weather-related issues or a power outage, please contact the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service Central Dispatch at 613-575-2000 to make arrangements.
For up-to-date forecasts and alerts, please continue to monitor Environment Canada and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne website and social media platforms.
The safety and well-being of the community remains a priority, and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne will continue to provide updates and assistance as conditions change.
