Visiting Akwesasne: What Canadian Visitors Should Know

If you are visiting Kawehnó:ke (Cornwall Island) from Cornwall or elsewhere in Canada, you do not need a passport. Cornwall Island is part of Canada, and identification is only required if you cross into the United States.

When returning to Cornwall, you will simply use the CBSA Domestic Lane. Since your travel remains within Canada, you will not be asked for a passport or ID, and you do not need to pay taxes or duties on purchases made on Cornwall Island.

Kawehnó:ke is home to many community events, sporting activities, and locally owned businesses that welcome visitors. We invite you to explore, shop, and enjoy all that Akwesasne has to offer — and we look forward to seeing you soon!
