A'nowara'kó:wa Arena
The A'nowara'kó:wa Arena is a multi-purpose facility located on Kawehnó:ke (Cornwall Island, Ontario). Since opening its doors in 1995, the arena has hosted a wide variety of events — from thrilling hockey and lacrosse games to rock & skate nights and large-scale community gatherings like the annual Akwesasne International Powwow.
Affectionately known as the “Turtle Dome,” the arena’s name — A’nowara’kó:wa — translates to “big turtle” in Kanien’kéha. In addition to the indoor venue, the surrounding grounds include a recreational field, splash pad, walking path, and the Akwesasne Skatepark, making it a hub for year-round activity in the community.
