The Akwesasne Rights & Research Office (ARRO) works to protect and advocate for the inherent rights of Akwesasne community members. ARRO provides research, technical support, and education on land claims, rights-based matters, and historical governance. 

  

ARRO’s key responsibilities include:
 

  • Conducting land claims research and coordination.

  • Providing cultural awareness training and community education.

  • Supporting archaeological projects.

  • Assisting community members with settlements and rights-based matters.

  • Offering technical support to Chiefs during negotiations.

  • Responding to Access to Information requests related to land claims.

  • Reviewing consultation requests to ensure Akwesasne’s interests are represented.
