Voter Registration
Your voice matters — and voting is one of the most important ways to help shape the future of Akwesasne. If you’re eligible and planning to vote in an upcoming Mohawk Council of Akwesasne election, you’ll first need to register. Follow the steps below to make sure your name is on the final voters list.
Steps for Registering to Vote:
- Complete a registration application, Schedule “G,” declaration of eligibility, Schedule “H” and proof of residence. Schedules “G” and “H” can be picked up at the Akwesasne Justice Department located at 45 Johnson Road, Kana:takon, or it can be downloaded below.
- Submit the fully completed Schedules “G,” “H” and proof of residence to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) by delivering it to the MCA Admin. 1 Building (12 Akwesasne Street, Kana:takon) no later than 48 hours prior to the election start date & time.
- The CEO may conduct a brief interview with you to confirm your eligibility and add you to the list.
- Your name will appear on the final voters list that is published 48 hours prior to the election.
