MOHAWK COUNCIL OF AKWESASNE ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF OF POLICE

Ranatiiostha Swamp has served with the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service since 2002. In 2018, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant of Operations, where he oversaw patrol operations, which included uniformed road patrol, marine patrol, community service, in-service training, and the emergency response team.

Chief Swamp has completed leadership training through the Police Leadership Program at the University of Toronto and was also awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of his contributions to the community.

Since May 2024, he has served as Acting Chief of Police and will now continue in the permanent role. In this capacity, he oversees departmental operations and implements strategic priorities. His leadership reflects professionalism, transparency, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving.
