AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE SERVICE RECOVERS FIREARMS FROM VACANT PROPERTY
On August 12, 2026, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) seized multiple firearms from a property following an investigation.
In the interest of public safety, Police contacted the lawful property owner and subsequently attended a vacant lot and abandoned structure located on the property. During the search, Police located and seized several firearms, including rifles and handguns, along with ammunition magazines.
Police were concerned that the firearms were stored in a location that was readily accessible to others and may have been utilized as a storage point by an unknown individual or group without the knowledge or consent of the lawful property owner. The firearms and ammunition-related items were removed from the area to eliminate any potential risk to public safety. The investigation remains ongoing and no further details are being released at this time.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service remains committed to working with its policing partners to disrupt organized crime and enhance public safety. We encourage community support and involvement to report any suspected criminal activities.
