Wastewater monitoring tracks levels of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), Influenza A, Influenza B and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) to help identify trends in respiratory virus activity and support community health efforts.

Latest Monitoring Results
  • Block 97 (Kawehno:ke): Elevated levels of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) were detected.
  • Kana:takon Water Treatment Plant: Low levels of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) were detected.

How to Help Prevent the Spread of Respiratory Illnesses

CHS encourages community members to follow these recommendations to help reduce the spread of respiratory infections:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Wear a well-fitting medical mask in crowded indoor spaces.
  • Keep your COVID-19, RSV and influenza immunizations up to date. CHS will notify the community when vaccines are available.
  • Regularly clean high-touch surfaces, such as phones, door handles and light switches.
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.
  • Stay home when feeling unwell or experiencing flu-like symptoms.
