AKWESASNE ORANGE SHIRT DAY 2026

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe invite the community to come together for Orange Shirt Day on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Generations Park. 

The day will begin with a community walk at 9:30 a.m.*, followed by an opening ceremony, smoke dance competition, community social, lunch, medicine game, and a variety of free cultural and wellness activities throughout the day. 

Orange Shirt Day is an opportunity to honor the courage, strength, and resilience of residential school survivors and their families while coming together through culture, ceremony, food, and community. 

The event is free and open to everyone, rain or shine.

Location: Generations Park | 30 Margaret Terrance Memorial Way, Akwesasne, NY
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

*PLEASE NOTE: Those wishing to participate in the community walk and utilize shuttle transportation are asked to arrive at Generations Park by 9:00 a.m. Shuttles will transport participants to Church Street for the 9:30 a.m. start.

The roadway along the walk route will be temporarily closed to traffic during the community walk. Motorists are asked to expect traffic delays, plan accordingly, and use caution in the area.
