AMPS BUILDING CONNECTIONS THROUGH BASKETBALL IN PIKWAKANAGAN
On April 1, 2026, AMPS Community Service Officer (CSO) Nathan Thompson joined members from the OPP, Pikwakanagan Police, and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service to take part in the Annual Pikwakanagan First Nation youth and police exhibition basketball game, held at Fellowes High School in Pembroke, ON.
The game was well attended by students and staff, creating a positive and engaging atmosphere. Events like this provide meaningful opportunities to build strong relationships and foster connections with youth and community members in Pikwakanagan. As part of the visit, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service also gifted the Pikwakanagan community with a beautiful traditional quilt.
On the court, the friendly competition kept the crowd energized. CSO Thompson contributed several points throughout the game, but in the end, the students secured the win with a final score of 47-39.
Nia:wen to the Pikwakanagan community for the invitation and warm hospitality. Opportunities like this continue to strengthen partnerships and create positive connections with the youth.
