CALL OUT FOR DEPUTY ELECTORAL/REFERENDUM OFFICERS

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is seeking two (2) eligible voters to serve as Deputy Electoral Officers (DEO) / Deputy Referendum Officers (DRO).

TERM: October 27, 2025 – December 27, 2026
SALARY: $50.00/hour (training, preparation, nomination, and voting process)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 21+ and an eligible voter under the Akwesasne Election Law
• High school diploma required
• Good standing with MCA’s Good Standing Policy
• Must pass CPIC within 7 days of appointment
• Must be reliable, impartial, and willing to work flexible hours
• Previous DEO/CEO experience and Mohawk language skills are assets

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Assisting the Chief Electoral Officer in elections and referenda
• Attending training sessions and following the Oath of Office
• Overseeing polling stations, voter applications, and voters’ list
• Providing information to community members
• Performing clerical and administrative duties

Pursuant to the Akwesasne Election Law, sitting MCA Council members, Justices of the Peace, and Akwesasne Mohawk Court Justices are not eligible.
