CLINICAL CARE SERVICES WELCOMES NEW NURSE PRACTITIONER, CHRISTIE THOMSON

The MCA Department of Health’s Clinical Care Services (CCS) would like to extend a warm welcome to its new Nurse Practitioner, Christie Thomson.

Christie will be providing evening and weekend clinics at the Kawehno:ke Medical Clinic, helping to expand access to same-day care for community members.

A graduate of the University of Ottawa, Christie has nearly two decades of experience delivering patient-centred healthcare throughout Eastern Ontario. She began her career in emergency medicine, spending eight years as a Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department in Brockville, where she gained extensive experience assessing and managing acute and complex medical conditions.

She later transitioned to primary care and joined the Cornwall Health Team, where she continues to provide comprehensive family practice services to patients of all ages. Her practice focuses on preventive care, chronic disease management, health promotion, and building long-term therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.

In addition to her family practice responsibilities, Christie serves a healthcare provider for residents at Maxville Manor Long-Term Care Home, where she works closely with residents, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize quality of life and medical care.

In addition to her family practice work, Christie also serves as a healthcare provider at Maxville Manor Long-Term Care Home, where she collaborates with residents, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize quality of life and medical care.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Christie enjoys golfing, curling, and spending time outdoors maintaining her property. She values staying active and being involved in the communities she serves.

Christie will be assisting with evening and Saturday same-day clinics at the Kawehno:ke Medical Clinic, strengthening our Primary Care Team's ability to provide timely access to care for community members.

Please join us in giving Christie a warm welcome to the community of Akwesasne and to the Department of Health’s Primary Care Team!
