DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY & SOCIAL SERVICES WELCOMES NEW ACTING PROGRAM SUPPORT OFFICER FOR SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAM

The MCA Department of Community & Social Services (DCSS) would like to warmly welcome Mindy Thompson as the Acting Program Support Officer for the Special Needs Program.

Mindy was born and raised in Akwesasne and achieved her bachelor’s degree in Archeology with a minor in Museums and Art History from SUNY Potsdam. She started with the Special Needs Program as the Administrative Assistant in 2025 and was recently announced as the Special Needs Program Support Officer.

Mindy proudly sits on the Akwesasne Rights and Research Office (ARRO) for Land Claims Advisory Board and the Department of Health’s Advisory Board.

She is pleased to be joining the Special Needs Program in her new role, where she is committed to supporting and assisting the Special Needs Program team in meeting the diverse needs of the individuals and families in Akwesasne. Mindy is honoured to continue to contribute her knowledge to the program and continue serving the families of Akwesasne.
