ELDERS HOME REPAIR PROGRAM
The Elders Home Repair Program is available to community members aged 60 and older who require non-emergency home repairs. Eligible repairs may include window and door replacements, siding repairs, insulation upgrades, and other improvements that help maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
Approved applicants may receive up to $10,000 per household to assist with the cost of repairs.
Program Criteria:
- Must be in good standing with the DIHE Housing Sector.
- Must own and live in the home as a primary residence.
- Must reside within MCA jurisdiction in the northern portion of Akwesasne.
- Applicant is responsible for any costs over the $10,000 limit.
- Provide three repair quotes, if possible.
The program is designed to assist low-income elders with repairs that improve the condition of their homes and support independence. Priority will be given to households that applied in previous years but did not receive assistance.
