RIVER ROAD – PHASE 2 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne's Department of Infrastructure, Housing & Environment (DIHE) is announcing the successful tendering and contract award of the River Road – Phase 2 Reconstruction Project to Delormier Trucking & Construction. 

Construction will take place on River Road from Bittern Creek Bridge to the end of the road easement in Sugar Bush. Work is scheduled to begin the week of June 15, 2026, and is expected to continue through early October. 

As part of the project, the existing road asphalt and granular base will be removed and replaced. Additional work will include the installation of new culverts and guiderails, grubbing of existing ditches, placement of new granular base, and the application of new asphalt lifts. 

During construction, community members can expect traffic delays in the area. DIHE appreciates the patience and understanding of residents and travellers while these improvements are being completed.
