EVERY STEP SHOWS SUPPORT
CHS HOSTS SECOND ANNUAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WALK
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, community members came together for MCA Community Health Services’ annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.
Beginning at the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility, participants made their way through the District of Kana:takon, walking in support of breast cancer awareness and the people whose lives have been touched by the disease.
Among those taking part were supporters, survivors, and individuals currently facing breast cancer. Before the walk began, participants enjoyed coffee and refreshments, which were generously donated by the Akwesasne Cancer Support Group. Following the walk, everyone was welcomed back for a healthy lunch catered by Big Russ’ Catering.
Special acknowledgement goes out to the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) who joined the walk and also increased patrol during the walk to ensure walker safety. Also, thank you to our Compliance team who drove ahead of the walk to ensure there were no loose dogs along the route.
A heartfelt nia:wen/thank you to this year’s organizers and to each person who showed up in support. Whether walking for yourself, a loved one, a survivor, or someone remembered, every step helped demonstrate the strength and compassion of our community.
